Hello Philofwine!

Great article. And one I relate too as well. Practicing the Art of Wine in a remote National Park has been my world for the last ten years. I coach my staff to relish the guest contact moment. The surprise questions, the zany perspectives and goofy declarations are the material of comedy and tragedy. From the Texan cougar declaring that ,"I'm allergic to all other wines than Rombauer!" to the elderly mother at the table insisting I ice her 1947 Cheval Blanc Bordeaux.

But behind the comedy is the wonder of people. Wine is about sheer intellectual enjoyment. My favorite opening line as I approach the table is, "How can I make your night special?" I also use, " I've got some stories for all of those." (as they read through my wine lists). It's all about the stories.

Again, great article.

Best Regards and Cheers!
